Fresh start to the new year

Written by Staff Writer

EAGLE — The Wisconsin State Park System is once again hosting First Day Hikes on New Year’s Day. The hikes offer visitors an opportunity to begin the new year rejuvenated and connected with nature.

First Day Hikes will be happening at 17 state properties, including the Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit.

A four-mile hilly hike is planned on the wide-cut Scuppernong Trail. The hike will start at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, at the Scuppernong Hiking Trails, located on the north side of County Highway ZZ about one-half mile east of Wisconsin Highway 67 and four miles north of Eagle.

A 2018 Wisconsin state park sticker is required. Participants may self-register for a sticker when they arrive by paying with check or cash.

The hike will be canceled only if the weather is severely cold or the roads are dangerous. For more information, call 262-594-6200 or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
